Forwarding on behalf of Dr. M. Natasha Rajah. Jennifer
Cognitive Neuroscience of Aging and Dementia, Graduate Student Position
M.N. Rajah, Dept. of Psychiatry, McGill University & Douglas Research
Centre

Funding is available for a 2yr Masters's and a 5 yr Master's-Ph.D.
candidate in the cognitive neuroscience of aging laboratory of Dr. M.
N. Rajah. The lab's research is focused on using functional
neuroimaging techniques to examine the neural substrates of learning and
memory in healthy young adults, and to understand how healthy aging, and
various age-related diseases, affect these neural processes. The lab
uses univariate and multivariate statistical approaches to examine both
region-specific processing roles and inter-regional neural network
interactions during the performance of recognition and source memory
tasks. The successful candidate should have a B.Sc./B.A., some
undergraduate training in cognitive psychology/neuroscience and have
basic statistical and computer knowledge. He/she will be responsible
for fMRI projects examining prefrontal contributions to episodic memory
in young and older adults and for performing the course work requirement
for the Graduate Program in Neurosciences at McGill University.

The Graduate Program in Neurological Sciences at McGill University is
one of the largest contemporary neuroscience graduate programs in North
America. Scanning is done at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Prior
experience in functional imaging, MatLab, and data analysis is an
advantage, but not necessary. This position will also give the student
an opportunity to be exposed to more clinically oriented projects on
dementia and geriatric services. If interested, please send CV and two
letters of recommendations to M. Natasha Rajah (email:
maria.rajah at mcgill.ca), Dept. of Psychiatry, McGill University, Douglas
Research Centre. Application deadline for Canadian residents is Sept.
15, 2008. Please refer to the website (http://www.mcgill.ca/gpns/) for
application details.
