Position 1:

The Department of Medical Biophysics in the Schulich School of
Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario invites
applications immediately to fill a probationary tenure-track position
with a research focus on the development and application of cellular
and molecular MRI, using novel probes such as superparamagnetic probes
for specific cell labeling, paramagnetic compounds for molecular
sensing, and hyperpolarized compounds for metabolic and physiological
imaging. The new faculty member will work at the interface between the
fundamental chemistry of MR probe development and the biophysics of MR
methods development and probe validation. Special emphasis on the
investigation of such probes for answering questions about fundamental
aspects of metastasis and tumor biology, cancer detection and cancer
cell tracking is a mandate for this position. The position will fit
into a growing program in cellular and molecular MRI at Robarts
Research Institute, involving Western’s Departments of Medical
Biophysics, Chemistry, as well as the London Regional Cancer Program
in partnership with the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.

Our departmental website (http://www.uwo.ca/biophysics/) describes our
research-intensive environment involving over 90 graduate students and
60 principal investigators from the University, including Robarts
Research Institute, and its affiliated research institute - the
Lawson Health Research Institute.. Robarts houses state-of-the-art
MRI facilities at 1.5T, 3T, 7T and 9.4T (animal) and hyperpolarization
facilities for C-13 and N-15 (DNP) as well as He-3 and Xe-129.

Successful candidates will be appointed at the rank of Assistant
Professor or Associate Professor. Applicants must possess a Ph.D.
degree in Physics, Biophysics, Engineering or a related discipline,
have a strong record of research productivity, and be well positioned
to apply successfully for external funding as well as be credentialed
as a Robarts scientist and as Investigator of the Ontario Institute
for Cancer Research (OICR). The applicant must have demonstrated a
potential for developing innovative areas within a collaborative
research environment. The applicant will also contribute to teaching
and student supervision at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Western’s Recruitment and Retention Office is available to assist in
the transition of successful applicant and his/her family.

Applications are invited immediately and the position will be open
until it is filled. Please send a detailed curriculum vitae, a
statement of research objectives, and the names of three references to:

Position 2:
The Department of Medical Biophysics in the Schulich School of
Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario invites
applications immediately to fill a Probationary (Tenure-Track) faculty
appointment with a research focus on the development and application
of neuroimaging methods at fields of 3T and above. Applications from
individuals interested in the development and application of RF coil
technologies or neuroscience applications would be particularly
welcome. The successful candidate will become a key leader of a
collaborative research program involving internationally recognized
researchers in the area of neuroscience and neuroimaging. He or she
will be have primary responsibility for a new 3T Siemens Tim Trio at
the University’s Robarts Research Institute, but will also have full
access to a 7T head MRI system (Varian and Siemens) and a 9.4T, 31 cm
Varian MRI system located in the same state-of-the-art facility (http://www.cfmm.robarts.ca
).
