Or, ideally/long term, ditch the entire auto* tool chain in favour of
CMake (http://www.cmake.org) which can properly configure/build for Mac,
Linux, and Windows.  And it properly handles Universal Binaries.  MINC2
has some support for CMake, but I don't think it's complete.
