Ali,

Actually GIMP does allow you to take individual pictures. Once you take
the screenshot of the whole window, select the crop tool, then while
holding down the ctrl key, use the left mouse button to drag and select
the picture you want to take, then double click and voila. You can then
save the picture in any format that's available from the menu.
