[MINC-development] MINC 2.0.19/2.1 and HDF 1.6/1.8

Hi all,

I am getting more and more help requests from users with build
problems with MINC. Generally as they have downloaded the latest
version of HDF (1.8) which is broken against our current release. This
is all fixed in CVS and ready for release.

Problem is 1.8 hasn't hit the various distros yet. It is now in
testing in debian and slated for lynx in Ubuntu (this month). My
problem is if I release a new version of MINC (2.1) now then odds are
I will then get whinges that it won't build without having to download
and install a new version of HDF on distros.

So, a quick survey.  Who has HDF 1.8 on their machines?  and who says
stuff it, let's release 2.1 early.
