World Maternal Mental Health Day 2018 - Begin Before Birth Canada symposium, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 - 9am to 5pm
Join us for a 1-day symposium as we mark World Maternal Mental Health Day and discuss perinatal mental health: from molecules to mothering and beyond.
One in five women experience significant perinatal mental health problems, often with lasting consequences for both mother and child. Untreated, maternal depression and anxiety disorders can have tragic and long-term consequences for both mother and child. Untreated, they affect a woman's ability to function, thrive and care for her child. Untreated, they affect her foetus' and child's long-term development, with long-lasting and detrimental physical, cognitive and emotional outcomes. Beginning before birth, research-backed interventions can make a difference.
Who should attend: Anyone interested in maternal mental health and the link to children's long-term development - physical, cognitive and emotional: Perinatal mental health professionals, Researchers, Trainees, etc.
