"Simultaneous PET/MR Imaging for Brain, Cardiac and Cancer Research”
David Faul, Head of PET/MR Research Collaborations at Siemens
[cid:62C58FBF-5CB8-4599-BBDF-F8FA0ADBF421]
The future of in vivo imaging is not only in new and improved scanner technology – with constantly augmenting sensitivity, spatial and temporal resolution – but also in our capacity, in health and disease, to target the largest choice of metabolic and physiological processes with the greatest specificity. In that respect, in vivo molecular imaging delivers the unique capability of observing fundamental biological phenomena in interaction with structure, tissue environment and organization, metabolism, physiology, and ultimately, behavior.
New scanner technology now integrates MRI and PET instrumentation in the same gantry, to realize genuine isochronous data collection targetting anatomy, physiology, metabolism and the greatest variety of molecular processes in vivo.
In vivo metabolic and molecular imaging is a unique bridge between molecular, cellular biology and biological systems, functions, health and behaviour. Ultimately, research in that area can serve precision medicine and enable targeted personalized therapy in cancer, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and mental illness.
This presentation will highlight existing and emerging aspects of integrated PET/MR imaging in brain, cardiac and cancer research. The discussion will be led by David Faul, Head of collaboration for PET/MR at Siemens and is open to everyone interested in learning more about this new tool and technology.
Cheers,
Sylvain.
