Please note that, because of the Easter Monday, next week's Feindel Brain
Image Lecture will be held on *Tuesday*.
---------------------
*The Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture Series @ The BIC*
The Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture
Series<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/BICLectureSeries>
features
informal lectures on brain imaging presented at the
Neuro<http://www.mni.mcgill.ca/>
's McConnell Brain Imaging Centre<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Main/HomePage>
(*BIC*) by experts in the field.
These lectures are named in honour of Dr. William
Feindel<http://publications.mcgill.ca/reporter/2014/01/dr-william-feindel-1918-2014/>
(1918-2014),
former Director of the Neuro (1972 -1984) and Founding Director of the BIC
(1984–88). Dr.
Feindel<http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/health/neurosurgeon-william-feindel-was-an-explorer-of-the-mind/article16764683/>'s
presence and contribution will be greatly missed at our weekly Brain
Imaging Lectures <http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/BICLectureSeries>,
where he almost always asked the final, most-germane question of the day:
one that usually bridged the clinical and research realms, and that brought
together the past, the present, and the future of brain science.
This semester, our Lecture Series is being held in conjunction with the
BIC's new Open Methods Meetups
(*OMM*)<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/OpenMethodsMeetups>: a
forum for discussing hands-on technical issues, brainstorming
problem-solving for specific projects, and sharing personal
tricks-of-the-trade. This will be a great venue for those associated with
the BIC to transfer knowledge and to get to know one another.
*Please join us for our next Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture, which will be
held in The Neuro's de Grandpré Communications Centre
<http://neuromedia.mcgill.ca/mnibooking/facdirections/dgccdir.htm> (3801
University Street, Montreal, QC, H3A 2B4) on Tuesday, April the 22nd,
starting at 1:00 pm. *
*At that time, **Dr. Georgios Mitsis
<http://www.mcgill.ca/bioengineering/faculty/georgios-mitsis>** (see bio
below in blue) will be describing some of his work on the m**odelling of
systemic and regional cerebral hemodynamics with data-driven methods**.*
Cheers!
Aki

*Georgios Mitsis* received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer
Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, M.S.
Degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from the University of
Southern California, Los Angeles, CA and the Ph.D. Degree in Biomedical
Engineering from the University of Southern California. He has held
postdoctoral appointments at the Biomedical Simulations Resource, Los
Angeles CA and the fMRIB Centre, University of Oxford, UK. From January
2009 to December 2013 he was a Lecturer and subsequently an Assistant
Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus. In January 2014, he joined the newly
founded Department of Bioengineering at McGill University as an Assistant
Professor. His research interests include nonlinear and nonstationary
systems modeling, with applications to systems biology and physiology, as
well as functional neuroimaging. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
