On Friday, October 9th, Dr. Michael Arbib <https://home.mcgill.ca/channels/events/item/?item_id=109838>  presents "Recognizing speech in a novel accent: The motor theory of speech perception reframed."  Dr. Arbib (USC) is a Fletcher Jones Professor of Computer Science, as well as Professor of Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience and Psychology. He is also director of the USC Brain Project.  Location: Room 1034 of the McIntyre Medical Building, 2-3:30 p.m.

 

On Wednesday, October 14th, Drs. Matthias Schlesewsky <https://home.mcgill.ca/channels/events/item/?item_id=109988>  (Professor of English and Linguistics, Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz) and Ina Bornkessel-Schlesewsky <https://home.mcgill.ca/channels/events/item/?item_id=109988>  (Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig)  present  "Mind the gap!" On the interdependence between eye movements and neurophysiological responses during real time language comprehension." Location: Life Sciences Complex, Room 501, Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Centre, 1160 avenue des Pins, 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.

 

On Friday, October 30th, Dr. Kim Plunkett  <https://home.mcgill.ca/channels/events/item/?item_id=109997>  presents "How infants build a semantic system: The emergence of lexical networks." Dr. Plunkett is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, Oxford University, member of the Oxford Centre for Connectionist Modeling  and Director of the Oxford BabyLab.  Location: Life Sciences Complex, Room 501, Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Centre, 1160 avenue des Pins, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
