Dear All,
Please be informed that as a result of a worldwide shortage of acetonitrile, a main constituent of every radiotracer production, we will run into serious production problems within the next weeks (and also problems in determining specific activity). The purchase of acetonitrile has been limited by the distributor (Fisher, VWR, Sigma-Aldrich etc) to a few liters per customer and we already bought our maximum. I therefore urge everybody who is currently doing PET studies and needs radiotracers to try buying acetonitrile (HPLC grade preferable) and bring it to the radiochemistry facility. I am hoping your support will prevent cancelations.
If trying to place orders, please use a delivery address different from the cyclotron facility and buy "HPLC grade acetonitrile".
The shortage is thought to last for some time (backorders until 2010).
Many thanks for your help and understanding,
Ralf Schirrmacher
