Jon Lamon is an MD, PhD who is currently a professor in the Department
of Immunology at the University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The
Netherlands. He is internationally recognized for his studies of how
the central nervous system micro-environment contributes to regulating
immune responses within the CNS. His studies include the role of
toll-like receptor mediated control of glial cells and how tissue
breakdown products interact with antigen presenting cells within the
CNS. He has further demonstrated the importance of transport of
antigens released within the CNS back to regional lymph nodes and how
this process contributes to recurrence of immune responses directed at
the CNS. His studies involve both basic experimental models and direct
application to human disease materials, particularly those involving
cases of multiple sclerosis.
