Subject: McGill Bioethics Conference 2005
To whom it may concern:
Due to the success of the first McGill Bioethics conference held last
year in October 2004, the committee decided to extend the experience
into an annual event. The theme of last year's conference was "Genes:
our choices to make", which focused on bioethical issues related to
genetics, genomics and stem cell research. Over 150 delegates and 13
speakers attended the conference over a two-day period. For more
information about last year's conference please visit our website:
http://bioethics.sus.mcgill.ca.
The theme of this year's conference is "Living Ethics: From Stem Cells
to Life Extension". It will be held in the Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre,
from November 11 to 12, 2005. In its composition, the conference will
address bioethical issues related to genetics, cloning, stem cell
research, pharmaceutical research, life enhancements and life extension.
We have 17 speakers presenting this year. We are expecting 200 attendees
from within Canada and the United States composed of undergraduate and
graduate students from diverse fields including law, medicine, science,
arts and biotechnology.
In spirit, the conference is designed to further the knowledge and
awareness of various bioethical issues to delegates of all backgrounds.
The tickets will be 25$, which includes all the talks, lunches and
coffee breaks. However, this is an event sponsored by the MNI so the
entry price might be significantly lowered for MNI staff and students.
Therefore, let me know ASAP if you are interested in attending by
registering online and indicating that you are MNI staff in the comment
section.
Please visit our website for the schedule and the list of speakers
participating: http://bioethics.sus.mcgill.ca.
Yours sincerely,
