[MINC-users] installation problem of minc-2.0.09 on Linux

Hello,
Basically, I am trying to install minc-2.0.09 on a Linux system running
ununtu 6.06LTS. I have successfully instatlled netcdf (v3.6.1),However, when
I run configure for minc-2.0.09

./configure --with-build-path=/home/leemon/ubuntu/netcdf-3.6.1

I get the following error:
checking for library m... yes
checking for library netcdf... yes
checking for library z... no
configure: error: cannot find required library z

What needs to be done to resolve this error?  If I haven't got something
quite right,please let me know.Thanks
