[MINC-users] Problem Installing MINC 2.0.09

I'm trying to install MINC 2.0.09 on an AMD64 box running Debian
3.1r0a and am having some trouble.

When I run ./configure --enable-64bits it says

configure: error: cannot find required library hdf5

and does not generate a Makefile.  The config.log is attached.

If it try apt-get install hdf5-tools it tells me the most recent
version is already installed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
