Hi Alex,

This is what I got:
$ strings 1.3.46.670589.11.0.0.11.4.2.0.10138.5.5100.2004091311513190174.dcm | grep 1.2.840.10008.1.
1.2.840.10008.1.2

I guess it is bis endian (and not little endian as I previously mentioned).
