Can't say really, however if:

   $ strings BIG_MOSAIC_FILE.IMA | grep ASCCONV

returns something like this:

   ### ASCCONV BEGIN ###
   ### ASCCONV END ###

Chances are it might.  If not, I doubt it. Either way let us know how you get
on.
