3.11 would put it in 6th position - taurus has an Intel 2.83GHz Core2Quad
with Debian lenny 64bit ... essentially the same as paris.

new doesn't necessarily mean the fastest cpu available - it all depends on your wallet!
being No 1 on http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MINC/Benchmarks is not a top priority but
being close to similar installations is good to know.

here are some details on the versions used: I used HDF5 1.6.9 with MINC 2.0.19, so maybe
that's the culprit ...
