Research Fellow - (3252833)
We are seeking a talented and highly qualified applied computer scientist/engineer with deep knowledge of structural neuroimaging analysis to work at the Center for Neurological Imaging. The successful candidate will partner with clinical neuroscientists, understand the image analysis and data analytics needs of their specific projects, and develop, implement and deploy the needed informatics solutions. The candidate will integrate image analysis algorithms and workflows into our home-grown, web-based virtual laboratory, and apply a variety of analytical strategies to diverse clinical neuroimaging projects, such as research on fatigue in multiple sclerosis, image-guided focused ultrasound partial thalamotomy for the treatment of essential tremor, and neural correlates of amyloid clearance in Alzheimer’s disease.
The Center for Neurological Imaging (https://cni.bwh.harvard.edu<https://cni.bwh.harvard.edu/>) is a multi-disciplinary research laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. We use quantitative neuroimaging techniques to investigate diseases affecting the central nervous system, with particular emphasis on multiple sclerosis (MS) and age-related disorders like Alzheimer's disease and cerebrovascular diseases. We also collaborate on projects related to neurosurgery and oncology.
Members of the CNI collaborate with other departments within Brigham and Women's Hospital, as well as with gifted clinicians, researchers, and engineers throughout the world
Key Responsibilities:

1. In collaboration with clinical neuroscientists and the CNI team, define the imaging and image analysis needs and specifications of clinical neuroscience projects.

2. Design, implement, and apply image processing workflows including image segmentation, image registration, diffusion tensor MRI analysis, image pre-processing and normalization techniques, etc.

3. Implement statistical analysis, including imaging statistics, e.g., voxel-based statistical analysis and connectomics/network analysis to correlate clinical, biological, and image extracted measurements, and model their interactions.

4. Integrate the implemented tools and processing pipelines in our home-grown virtual laboratory.

5. Data and project management.

• Minimum required qualification PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Mathematics/Statistics.

• Experience with Neuroimaging tools and libraries such as FreeSurfer, FSL, and SPM. Minimum experience required is working knowledge of one neuroimaging segmentation tool.

• Experience with image registration libraries (e.g., ANTS, Elastix, MITK). Minimum experience required is working knowledge of one commonly used brain image registration library.

• Experience with Docker and Singularity containers. Minimum experience required is working knowledge of Docker or Singularity.

• Knowledge of statistical analysis packages, e.g., R and Stata

• Good programing skills. Python and JavaScript knowledge is a plus
