[BIC-announce] Sliding doors to 7T MRI area in North Wing B2

Dear all,

Now that the 7T magnet is energized, the immediate area surrounding the suite is "restricted access". The outer zone of the restricted area is now controlled by a sliding glass door, which requires an authorized key fob to open. Additional metal doors within the suite provide further security. Please note that the area is also under video surveillance, both from within the 7T suite and at the MNI security desk.

Recently the outer sliding door has been forced off its tracks, presumably by being pushed forcibly by someone seeking to gain access.

Although there is signage on the door stating to push in case of emergency, under normal operations this door should never be touched. Opening the door is a two-step process: 1) an authorized key fob must be swiped; 2) the "open" sensor must be tapped. The door will not open unless both steps are performed.

Prior to launch of the 7T human service in May, we will circulate detailed instructions on how research users may gain access to the facility.

Thank you for your attention to this issue,

Rick
