Dear BIC faculty members, post-docs, students, and staff,
You are all invited to participate in the 2018 BIC Retreat, which will be held at Usine C (1345 Avenue Lalonde; map<https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Usine+C/@45.5219837,-73.5606141,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x3a655a90cdddaaea!8m2!3d45.5219837!4d-73.5606141>, website<http://usine-c.com/nos-salles/>) on December 10th, 2018. The Retreat will be followed by our annual BIC Holiday Party, with good food and wine to celebrate the end of another successful year.
This one-day event, which is free and open to all, will not only give us the chance to get to know each other better, but will also provide a forum to learn more about the different research activity being conducted at the BIC. Furthermore, it will be an excellent sounding board for exchanging ideas and fostering collaborations with colleagues.
The Retreat Committee, composed of Francine Bélanger, Boris Bernhardt, Leah LeFort, Leigh MacIntyre, Sridar Narayanan, Deborah Rashcovsky, Christine Tardif and myself, is working on a Scientific Program that will be circulated ASAP. Please note that Dr. Derek Jones (Cardiff University, Wales, UK; link<https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/people/view/61030-jones-derek>) has accepted our invitation to deliver a keynote lecture. Furthermore, I will be giving a review of the BIC activities in 2018.
In addition to scientific talks given by BIC faculty members on topics related to data acquisition and analyses, there will be time devoted to a "Discussion Panel Session" during which the Scientific Committee will invite your reflections and questions on topics related to the BIC. Now's your chance to participate, voice thoughts, ask questions, and be involved!
You are also encouraged to submit an abstract for the poster session during the BIC Retreat. The abstract submission deadline is November 19th, 2018. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee, and accepted authors will be notified by December 3rd, 2018. Please note the committee will also select the four best abstracts and that the first authors of those abstracts will then be invited to give a short 5 min talk to describe their work. Clinical and research fellows, residents, medical students, post-docs and graduate students at the BIC may submit posters. See the Abstract Submission Guidelines (https://www.mcgill.ca/bic/article/call-abstracts-bic-scientific-retreat-2018) for more information.
To confirm your attendance to the BIC Retreat, the BIC Holiday Party, or both - and to submit an abstract - please visit: http://neuroevents.mcgill.ca/forms/bic_retreat_2018.php
Looking forward to having you join us!
Julien Doyon, on behalf of the Retreat Committee.
