Dear BIC faculty, students, and staff:

You are invited to join a working group to discuss what software tools,
training, and other resources the BIC should commit resources to.
Neuroscience is a highly diverse field, with countless techniques and tools
used by researchers. The BIC’s neuroinformatics staff is committed to
providing the best tools and training for all labs. We want to hear what
are your needs and priorities.

The meeting will be held *Thursday, March 01, 12-1pm* at the *Grandpré
Communications Centre*.

You are invited to submit proposals for what are your needs. These
proposals will help guide the plans, policies, and budget decisions for the
coming year. The working group will meet every 2-3 months to revisit
proposals and follow-up on services delivered, as needed.

To submit a written proposal or general feedback, send an email to
ted.strauss at mcgill.ca (cc: jean-baptiste.poline at mcgill.ca). If you would
like to make a short presentation at the meeting, let us know.

Topics that will be covered at the working group:

   - Developing an event series and online resources as training on core IT
   competencies.
   - Data visualizations strategy: what software tools are needed, and what
types of training do we need?
   - HPC strategy: what software tools are needed, and what types of
   training do we need?
   - Discussion of the most common workflows used in imaging research.
   - Improving communications between labs, with technicians, and
   administration.

Thank you

BIC Neuroinformatics Committee
