Subject: post-doc for cryogen-free MEG system
Hi Sylvain,
We're looking for someone to work on the development of a new cryogen-free MEG system (see below).
The post says neuroscience but it would also really suit someone with an engineering/physics background also.
Can you think of anyone ?- tenacious and enthusiastic are main qualities we need.
Best
Gareth

Duties and Responsibilities
The Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, UCL Institute of Neurology, is seeking to recruit a post-doctoral research fellow in the field of magnetoencephalography (MEG). This is part of a Wellcome-funded programme, in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, to develop a new generation of MEG system based on a optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs). Optically pumped magnetometers are ultra-sensitive magnetic field detectors which can operate at room temperature, and so can be brought closer to the head than the cryogenically-cooled field detectors that are currently used in MEG imaging. The aim is to build a multi-channel OPM MEG device which can be worn on the head allowing the subject to move freely in an open and natural environment. The prospect of an affordable and wearable system has a number of exciting applications including novel paediatric and clinical imaging systems.
The post is available from 1st April 2017 and is funded by a grant from the Wellcome Trust for three years in the first instance.
Key Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD in Neuroscience or related area and strong proven expertise in physics / engineering or related discipline. Strong expertise in programming, ideally Matlab, is essential, as is an excellent academic record with evidence of independent, creative work, a strong mathematical background, expertise in modelling / simulation and experience in M/EEG. It would also be desirable to have experience with one or more M/EEG software packages and the use of different volume conductor models.
