Dear BIC community,
Last week I circulated an email indicating that we have been considering a tentative date of August 2016 for an upgrade of the 3T Trio to the Prisma platform. In response to this, I have received a great deal of feedback and many questions. A major challenge is that some researchers will clearly be unable to complete studies prior to August 1, and are concerned about their ability to implement adequate controls for scanner platform in their study design by this date. Conversely, a number of researchers are delaying the start of new studies until after the upgrade, also in order to avoid mixing data from different scanner platforms, and are understandably concerned about delays to their research.
In order to address these issues, I will hold a Town Hall meeting to discuss 3T planning on Friday May 20, from 12-2pm in the Grandpré Communication Centre at the MNI. I will start with a 30 minute presentation outlining the advantages of the Prisma system, the potential impact of a Trio upgrade on data, and the constraints we face in terms of timing and funding. The remaining time will be reserved for questions and discussion.
The objective will be to solicit input that will help to finalize a definitive plan and timeline by May 31.
Sincerely,
Rick
