[BIC-announce] BIC Travel Awards Data Blitz

REMINDER: BIC DATA BLITZ & TRAVEL AWARDS!

When: Tuesday, May 24th, 1:00-2:00pm
Where: Grandpré Communications Centre, MNI
*Deadline to apply: Tuesday, May 17*

*If you are thinking of competing in the Data Blitz, remember that spots
are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We have currently filled about half
of our slots.*

The Data Blitz is back! We are looking for BIC students and post-docs to
showcase their research and practice their presentation skills in
preparation for summer conferences-- and perhaps to earn a little cash for
said conferences. The presentations will occur during the weekly Feindel
Lecture.

The two best presenters in this competition will receive a BIC Coffee Fund
Travel Award, thanks to everyone at the MNI who has availed themselves of
the coffee machine this year. We will be awarding the two best presenters a
sum of $500 each. Even if you aren't presenting, you'll still have a part
to play: winners are determined by vote from the audience, so mark your
calendars! In-progress and preliminary research is welcome. Please ask us
if you are in doubt about your eligibility. *If you are interested in
presenting, please contact us no later than one week before the competition
date.*


Am I eligible?

This competition is open to Students or Post-Docs who:

1) will present research involving brain imaging data collected/methods
developed at the BIC at a conference* in 2016.

2) are not previous recipients of the BIC Travel Award.

How can I present?

Email anastasia.sares at mail.mcgill.ca or benjamin.gold at mail.mcgill.ca with
your name, status (PhD/Master/Post-Doc), supervisors(s) and presentation
title. The duration of the presentations will depend on how many presenters
volunteer, but will be less than 15 minutes.

*Winners must show proof of conference attendance in order to claim their
prizes. While multiple members of a lab may compete, there will be only one
winner per lab.R
