Dear All:

Some important news and updates concerning the BIC community:

1) Small-animal imaging core: As of November 01, 2014, Dr. Rick Hoge and his team will be in charge of the small-animal MRI core facility at the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre (ultra high field small-bore 7-T, for rodents and tissue samples). Rick is our freshly recruited Director of MRI research. For access and assistance with your studies and projects, please contact Rick directly: rick.hoge at mcgill.ca<mailto:rick.hoge at mcgill.ca>. The access fee remains at $200/hour.
For access to micro-PET, please contact Dr. Gassan Massarweh, our new Director of Cyclotron and Radiochemistry (gassan.massarweh at mcgill.ca<mailto:gassan.massarweh at mcgill.ca>). uPET fees also remain at $200/hour, excluding radiotracer production fees.

It is an opportunity for me to acknowledge, on behalf of the BIC community, the key contribution of Dr. Barry Bedell in putting together and running this core operation over the past several years. Barry has developed a very original research program that combines high-resolution, multimodal imaging with experimental immunochemistry and neuropathology. This latter expertise will be transferred to a new core service and research operation over the next coming months: stay tuned. Barry will be joining the MUHC-Research Institute in April 2015: Please join me in wishing him all the best in his new research endeavors.

2) New BIC website: http://mcgill.ca/bic has been up and running for about 3 weeks now and is already receiving about 300 unique visits per day. Thank you again to the development team who helped me over the past several months: Samir Das, Boris Bernhardt, Aki Caramanos, Kevin Larcher, and Ami Tsuchida.
If you wish to contribute some student and trainee pages, please contact me.

The MNI will also be upgraded some time early November using the same contents management system.

3) Booking of the NW conference rooms: The 2 meeting rooms in the MNI North-Wing - NW123 and 125 - are available to anyone, with preferred booking to BIC PIs and affiliated faculty and users. BIC PIs can book directly using a shared Outlook calendar. Everyone else, please send a request to nwbooking at bic.mni.mcgill.ca<mailto:nwbooking at bic.mni.mcgill.ca>; it will be processed by Anna Stabile and Stacey Peixoto  (thank you both!)
