*The Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture Series @ The BIC*
The Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture
Series<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/BICLectureSeries>
features
informal lectures on brain imaging presented at the
Neuro<http://www.mni.mcgill.ca/>
's McConnell Brain Imaging Centre<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Main/HomePage>
(*BIC*) by experts in the field.
These lectures are named in honour of Dr. William
Feindel<http://publications.mcgill.ca/reporter/2014/01/dr-william-feindel-1918-2014/>
(1918-2014),
former Director of the Neuro (1972 -1984) and Founding Director of the BIC
(1984-88). Dr.
Feindel<http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/health/neurosurgeon-william-feindel-was-an-explorer-of-the-mind/article16764683/>'s
presence and contribution will be greatly missed at our weekly Brain
Imaging Lectures <http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/BICLectureSeries>,
where he almost always asked the final, most-germane question of the day:
one that usually bridged the clinical and research realms, and that brought
together the past, the present, and the future of brain science.
This semester, our Lecture Series is being held in conjunction with the
BIC's new Open Methods Meetups
(*OMM*)<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/OpenMethodsMeetups>: a
forum for discussing hands-on technical issues, brainstorming
problem-solving for specific projects, and sharing personal
tricks-of-the-trade. This will be a great venue for those associated with
the BIC to transfer knowledge and to get to know one another.
Please join us for our next Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture, which will be
held in The Neuro's de Grandpré Communications
Centre<http://neuromedia.mcgill.ca/mnibooking/facdirections/dgccdir.htm>
(3801
University Street, Montreal, QC, H3A 2B4) on *Monday, March the 31st,
starting at 1:00 pm**. *
*At that time, **Mr. Paul Gravel
<http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/paul-gravel/74/710/984> will be leading an **OMM
on the use of PET in research on **neurological and psychiatric disorders*
*.*
Cheers!
Aki
PS - Please let me know if you are interested in presenting a future
Feindel Brain Imaging Lecture @ The BIC or leading a future OMM on June 2nd
or 23rd (see full calendar below).
PPS - For those who might be interested, please note that there is an
upcoming edX <https://www.edx.org/> course on the topic of Introduction to
Biomedical Imaging<https://www.edx.org/course/uqx/uqx-bioimg101x-introduction-biomedical-1429?utm_source=edX+Course+Announcements+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=37a3f1030d-Student_Newsletter_March_23_2014_3_21_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_237694b56d-37a3f1030d-53263989>.
The faculty for this course will include BIC and Neuro alumni Dr. David
Reutens <http://www.cai.uq.edu.au/reutens> and Dr. Andrew
Janke<http://www.cai.uq.edu.au/janke>
.
