(*) Naming as research group: as you know, following the Neuro's external review, all PIs have worked at the categorization of the research activities at the Neuro into groups. So far, the proposed groups are:
MS/Neuroimmunology
Brain Imaging Centre
Neuromuscular disorders
Cognitive Neuroscience
Neurodegenerative disorders
Epilepsy
Neural Circuits
Brain Tumors
Our group is the only one named after a Centre. It also includes about 30 affiliated members from outside the BIC, in addition those from the 10 BIC labs. For better alignment and consistency with the other groups and improved visibility about what we do (especially with the creation of MCIN as a new centre with substantial thematic overlap with the BIC), I suggest we rename our group "Neuroimaging & Neuroinformatics".
The BIC remains the BIC, as a Centre and a solid group of researchers. The "Neuroimaging & Neuroinformatics" group would better represent all themes and researchers and trainees involved in all aspects of what we do in science. Remember, this is essentially for posting clearly the main research themes at the Neuro when communicating with students, donors, patients and the rest of the community: it does not impose any operational aspects.
Let me know your thoughts in person or through your rep's before Friday.
Thank you,
Sylvain.
