Dear All:
I would like to clarify the situation concerning our website and the message that was inadvertently sent to this mailing list over the week-end concerning the transition with web-mastership.
Some of you may not know that Marta Kersten, a grad student in Louis Collins' group, has been our web expert over the past few years. As such, she did a tremendous job setting up and managing an efficient wiki solution and enabling very effective services for our pages at http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca.
We want to increase our web presence over the next few months. In particular, we need to update a great deal of information concerning tools and methods available at the BIC. As you know, the new Open-Methods Meet-ups and Computing workshop initiatives will generate a great deal of new information that we want to archive and document on the web. Because this and other updates represent a large amount of work while we also need to contain our costs, I have asked our IT admins, Sylvain Milot and Jean-François Malouin, to update themselves some of the existing contents and strategize the best technical solutions to scale up the capacity of our web server.
I hope this clarifies the context and that Marta and everybody at the BIC is still welcome and actually, encouraged, to continue to contribute to our web pages.
On another front, I would like to thank everyone who participated to the Town Hall meeting with the MNI reviewers today: it's been very well appreciated by the external experts.
Best wishes,
Sylvain.
