---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TODAY'S Killam Lecturer is Anton J. Reiner.
Professor Reiner is a world authority on anatomy of the basal ganglia and motor system.
Dr. Reiner has publisihed important work on the organization of glutamatergic corticostriatal and thalamostriatal systems in mammals. He also studies how cortical, thalamic and striatal neurons degenerate in Huntington's disease using animal models.
Not only is Dr. Reiner an excellent mammalian anatomist, but also has a strong interest in comparative brain anatomy. He has published important work in avian and reptilian brain.
Dr. Reiner's talk will focus on dysfunction of the corticostriatal system in Huntington's disease, and novel pharmacological strategies for rescuing the system from the degenerative process.
Please join us at the MNI for what promises to be a most interesting seminar of relevance to a broad audience.
Best wishes,
Abbas
