Dear Colleagues,
The Killam speaker this week will be Dr Gerhard Multhaup. Gerd recently moved to McGill to assume the position of Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Previously, he was Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Free University of Berlin where he was Coordinator of the DFG Priority Program "Cellular mechanisms of Alzheimer‘s disease". Dr Multhaup has published close to 200 papers. His interests are aimed at understanding the molecular, cellular and systemic mechanisms of degenerative nervous system disorders, in particular Alzheimer’s and other dementias. His research is focused on unraveling the mechanisms involved in Aβ generation by structural and functional analyses and the molecular events of amyloid aggregation, gain of toxicity and how they cause neuronal dysfunction. The overall aim is to identify novel targets to develop pharmacological treatment in AD. I hope you will join us for his seminar entitled: "The Role of Secretases in the Amyloid Puzzle"
