Postdoctoral Fellowship On Early Functional Networks In The Human Infant Brain Using EEG

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position supervised by Ghislaine Dehaene-Lambertz to study the organization of the early functional networks in the human infant brain and their relation to high-level cognitive processes (e.g. consciousness) using EEG.
The postdoc will analyze resting EEG and ERPs experiments in pre and post-terms infants. The aim of the research is to characterize the early functional networks and how they are shaped by the external world. Can we relate the rapid changes of the EEG during this period to the maturation of specific circuits, such as the maturation of the external layers of the cortex, or of the inhibitory interneurons?

The team is part of INSERM ‘Cognitive Neuroimaging Unit' (http://www.unicog.org/<http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unicog.org%2F&h=7AQGDHCoT&s=1>, director : Stanislas Dehaene) at NeuroSpin (http://www-dsv.cea.fr/en/institutes/institute-of-biomedical-imaging-i2bm/departments/neurospin-neurospin<http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww-dsv.cea.fr%2Fen%2Finstitutes%2Finstitute-of-biomedical-imaging-i2bm%2Fdepartments%2Fneurospin-neurospin&h=RAQGc7YVN&s=1>, director: Denis LeBihan) in the greater Paris region.

NeuroSpin is a newly opened outstanding interdisciplinary research environment that houses several research laboratories and combines expertise in cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology, magneto-electrophysiology, high field MR imaging and imaging data analysis.

Applicants should have a MD or a PhD degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or in Mathematics, Physics. Prior experience with EEG/MEG analysis or signal processing is valued. Salary will be commensurate with experience within the salary scale of the French public research organisations. The position is funded for one to three years, and can start from spring 2013. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. For best consideration, please electronically submit a CV with a description of education, research experience and computer expertise, and two references to ghislaine.dehaene at cea.fr<mailto:ghislaine.dehaene at cea.fr>
