Dear all,

Our next Biomedical Engineering Dpt seminar is this coming wednesday

Wednesday - May 16th, at 13h

Location: Room 333 Lyman Duff Building (Biomedical Engineering Dpt, 3775
University Street).

Speaker: Dr. Paul Kry, Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science
at
McGill University

Title: Natural vibrations in locomotion control and simplification of
deformation

Abstract:
In this talk I will present some of my recent work on the animation of
human motion, and deformation. I will first describe a method for
creating controllers for legged locomotion using modal vibrations
computed from the physical properties of a virtual character. In the
second half of the talk, I will present an approach for simulating
linear elastic deformable models at a coarse level while taking into
account topological details and varying material properties.

Short Bio:
Dr. Paul Kry is an assistant professor in the School of Computer Science at
McGill University since 2008. He has a BMath from University of
Waterloo, and MSc and PhD from University of British Columbia. His
research focuses on physically based simulation, motion capture, and
control of character animation.
