Michael is currently an Associate Professor at Brown University. He is a computational neuroscientist who is widely known for his work on reinforcement learning. He is particularly interested in basal ganglia, prefrontal, and dopamine contributions to learning, and has developed influential models of this circuitry. He and others have tested the predictions in these models in Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and in relation to normal variation in dopamine genes.
