Our Killam speaker for Tuesday, Feb 1/11 at 4:00 p.m. in the de Grandpré Communications Centre (MNI), is Dr. Pascal Dournaud from from the French Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médical, INSERM, Unit 676.

 

The title of his talk is: 

"Trafficking of the somatostatin receptor type 2 in central neurons: Molecular mechanisms and pathological consequences in epilepsy".

 

Pascal is an MNI alumnus who did his postdoctoral training with Dr. Alain Beaudet.  After his return to France he joined INSERM and started his own laboratory.  The Dournaud laboratory focuses on elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying somatostatin receptor trafficking in central neurons in vivo. In recent years, they have demonstrated the functional significance of receptor trafficking events in dentate gyrus neurons in determining their vulnerability to epileptic seizures and are currently shifting their focus to the role of receptor trafficking in neuronal migration and differentiation. Pascal is sure to present an exciting and thought-provoking seminar. I am looking forward to seeing you all there at the talk.
