Dr. Martin Lepage's lab is looking to recruit a new a new 1. post-doctoral student  and a 2. research assistant for the Spring of this year. Please see postings below.

1. Post-Doctoral Position

Neurocognition and neuroimaging projects in schizophrenia

Post-doctoral position in Dr Lepage's lab at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. The position will be in the field of schizophrenia, with a focus on neural correlates of cognitive insight and negative symptoms. The qualified candidate will have a strong background in a health-related science and have a strong command of both French and English. The position is for 2 years with the option of adding a third.

Project Description
As a member of the Brain Imaging Group, the Lepage lab will have full access to new state-of-the-art facilities at the Douglas Brain Imaging Centre, due to open later this year (all MR scans currently take place at the Montreal Neurological Institute). Using functional and structural brain imaging techniques, the lab is in the process of exploring the underlying correlates of negative symptoms in people with schizophrenia. Also of interest are neural correlates of cognitive insight - that is, the capacity to self-reflect (admit fallibility) and refrain from high self-certainty (high certainty in beliefs and judgments about previous life experiences).

Qualifications:
·         Ph.D. or M.D. in a health-related science
·         Fluent in English and French
·         Experience in clinical research and/or brain imaging

Salary: Based on experience, and in conformity with McGill University standards.

2. Research Assistant

Neurocognition and neuroimaging projects in schizophrenia

Dr Lepage's lab at the Douglas Institute is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time research assistant position. This is primarily a research position requiring familiarity with data analyses and strong writing skills. The chosen candidate will actively contribute to ongoing research studies on neurocognition and neuroimaging of people with schizophrenia (e.g. subject recruitment, data collection and analyses). This person will also be involved in the preparation of scientific manuscripts and research grant applications.

Qualifications:
·         Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field
·         Research experience is highly desirable, but not required
·         Familiarity with statistics and data analyses
·         Strong writing skills
·         Fluent in English and French
·         Strong organization skills

Summary of Responsibilities:
§   Perform data collection for on-going behavioural and neuroimaging studies
§   Contribute to the preparation of research grants and manuscripts
§   Contribute to the coordination of ongoing studies

Duration and Condition

Duration: 35 hours/week
Start date: Spring 2011
Place of work: Douglas Mental Health University Institute
Salary: In conformity with Douglas Institute Research Centre standards
