Hi Everyone,

It will soon be that time of year again: Brain Awareness Week (BAW). One of the major BAW events is the BAW MNI Open House.

This year, the BAW MNI Open House will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 and feature Canadian Astronauts Dr. Marc Garneau, Member of Parliament for Westmount-Ville Marie, and Dr. Robert Thirsk as our keynote speakers. They will be presenting to the Neuro the Penfield Dissector (a neurosurgical instrument developed by Wilder Penfield) which was brought into space during one of the space missions.

As part of the event, we would like to engage the visiting elementary school students (grades 5 or 6) and some special guests with a set of interactive presentations which will showcase the diverse research activities at the Neuro and provide interesting facts about the brain and how it is studied. Last year, we had presentations that covered Brain Anatomy and The 5 Senses, Neuropsych, MRI, Ultrasound, EEG, Registration & Quantitative Analysis, and many more. We will try to present similar topics this year, but welcome your ideas and encourage your participation in this event.

We'll try to have a brief meeting eventually to discuss the event itinerary, logistics, and get everyone up to speed.
