Subject: Neuro Film Series - April 7 at 6:30 pm - "Remember the Titans"

The Neuro's next film showing on Thursday, April 7th, 2011 is "Remember the Titans". The setting is suburban Virginia, where schools have been segregated for generations, in sight of the Washington Monument over the river in the nation's capital. One Black and one White high school are closed and the students are sent to T.C. Williams High School under federal mandate to integrate. The year (1971) is seen through the eyes of the football team where the man hired to coach the Black school is made head coach over the highly successful White coach. Based on the actual events of 1971, the team becomes the unifying symbol for the community as the boys and the adults learn to depend on and trust each other.

Remember the Titans will be hosted by one of the Neuro's own. Dr. Angela Genge was Tony Proudfoot's (All-Star defensive back in the Canadian Football League) physician throughout his struggle with ALS disease. She is a Physician and Director of the ALS Clinic and Clinical Research Unit, an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University. Although her interests in neurology focused on neuromuscular disease, she has continued working with the CRU as its Director and has brought in clinical trials in more neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, Myopathies, Neuropathies, Myasthenia Gravis and pain.

Neuro Movie Nights are free and snacks can be purchased (including wraps and popcorn!
