Dear colleagues,

On December 15, 2010 we will be upgrading our 3 T MRI scanner 
software from revision level VB15 to VB17.  This upgrade will add 
functionality and will also include new computer hardware that should 
speed-up reconstruction.   This upgrade will not involve any change in 
major scanner hardware components (e.g. main magnet, gradients, 
RF, etc.) and should not cause any problems for your ongoing studies.  
All current protocols based on Siemens product sequence on the 3 T 
will be translated directly to the upgraded system by Siemens and 
should be immediately available after December 15th.   Custom 
sequences (developed locally or obtained from other sites) will have 
to be recompiled and reinstalled and may thus take a few days.

We will be performing pre- and post-upgrade quality control scans 
to verify the stability of the system but we do not expect any problems 
with this relatively minor upgrade.   Nonetheless, it is always prudent 
for you to pay attention to the data you collect and to raise any 
concerns you might have immediately.
