Hello Neuro students, fellows, trainees,

This note is to remind you that the George Karpati Symposium on Neuromuscular Disease will take place Monday May 10 in the Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre.

The Symposium honors the memory of our famous and universally-respected colleague, who died suddenly just over one year ago. This is a first-class scientific symposium - the world leaders are providing an expert update across a spectrum of neuromuscular disorders.

I hope you all can attend at least part of the symposium's scientific sessions. I can guarantee that any talks you do attend will provide the latest word in the area. I attach the program so you can know who is speaking when to judge which talks have the greatest relevance to your interests. Of course, the starting atmosphere is most important so your attendance at the beginning of the program would be especially appreciated.

Registration for the scientific sessions is free but I hope you will register to help us organize the catering - we will be providing a light breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks and a closing wine & cheese reception for all participants. Even if you will come only for some of the talks or meal breaks please take a minute and go to http://neuroevents.mcgill.ca/index.php?page=g-karpati-symposium and follow the "Registration" link.

In addition to taking advantage of a special opportunity to learn about a major area of neuroscience, your participation in this one-time symposium event will also contribute directly to its success. George Karpati's death marks the end not only of a colorful person and an enthusiastic and justly famous clinician-scientist, but also of a great shaper of our institutional life. George was totally dedicated to medical research and above all to the Neuro to which he gave the proverbial 110% over his entire working life. He is a big part of the reason why the Neuro is what it is, and this symposium is our way of recognizing that impact. We hope to see you there.

With best wishes,

Ken
