**KILLAM REMINDER**

Dear Colleagues,

Our Killam speaker for today, April 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the de Grandpré Communications Centre <http://neuromedia.mcgill.ca/mnibooking/week.php?year=2007&month=09&day=07&area=3&room=4> (MNI), is Dr. Mark Frye from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute <http://www.hhmi.ucla.edu/> , Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology <http://www.physci.ucla.edu/> .

The title of his talk is: Multisensory systems integration in Drosophila: behavioral algorithms and circuits <http://www.mni.mcgill.ca/channels/events/item/?item_id=115818> .

Mark's laboratory focuses on integration of biological and engineering techniques to investigate multi-sensory processing and sensory-motor integration at genetic, cellular, cell-system, and organ-system levels of organization. In particular he investigates the behavior of flies in "virtual reality" simulators during visual and olfactory stimulation. These behaviors can be manipulated with changes to the environment or genetic changes to the animals themselves. This is a unique and fascinating approach to understanding how information from multiple senses is processed, integrated, and transformed into the biomechanics of complex behavior.

You may go to the following website for more information on the Frye lab:

I am looking forward to seeing you all there.

Christopher Pack, Ph.D.
