Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine, Oxford University, will deliver the 2009 Penfield lecture "Will genetics transform clinical medicine?"
Wednesday, September 23 at 4 pm in the Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, 3801 University Street

Professor Bell, an advisor to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and to the Gates Foundation on research and global health, founded the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. In his career, Bell has characterized the genetic susceptibility to Type I diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases. Days before the lecture, Professor Bell will receive the Henry G. Freisen International Prize in Health Research from the Friends of CIHR.

All are welcome to attend the lecture and the reception that will follow.
