Subject: Reminder - Killam Lecture today
Importance: High

Dear Colleagues,

Our Killam speaker for today, January 6th at 4:00 p.m. in the de Grandpré Communications Centre <http://neuromedia.mcgill.ca/mnibooking/week.php?year=2007&month=09&day=07&area=3&room=4> (MNI), is Dr. Greg DeAngelis from Washington University, School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology

The title of his talk is:

"Seeing in 3D: roles of area MT in depth perception"

Greg's laboratory studies cortical circuits that mediate visual perception and visually guided behavior, using a creative fusion of the disciplines of neurophysiology, psychology. His talk will describe experiments that make use of a 3D virtual reality system to provide monkeys with naturalistic combinations of visual stimuli and inertial motion. This work has provided a detailed picture of the mechanisms by which cortical neurons integrate visual and vestibular signals to compute one's direction of heading through 3D space.

I am looking forward to seeing you all there.

Christopher Pack, Ph.D.
