Parkinson Society Canada is pleased to announce the second competition of our July 2009-June 2011 National Research Program Funding Cycle

Funding Opportunities:

PILOT PROJECT GRANTS

·         One-year duration 
·         Maximum funding of $45,000
·         Pilot Project Program grants intend to foster novel, high-potential projects and ideas with a trajectory for major grants with larger granting institutions

NEW INVESTIGATOR AWARD PROGRAM
·         Two-year duration 
·         $45,000 per year
·         For junior faculty in a Canadian university in first 5 years of their career as a research scientist in Canada
·         This program provides new investigators with an early opportunity to develop and demonstrate their ability to initiate and conduct independent health research

BASIC RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
·         Two-year duration
·         $40,000 - $50,000 per year
·         Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (MD or PhD) and may be Canadian citizens who propose to train at an Approved Institution located inside or outside of Canada, or international applicants proposing to train at an Approved Institution located in Canada 
·         This program encourages promising young scientists to enter the field of Parkinson's basic research and to invest in research training that offers promise for future work in the area of Parkinson's disease

GRADUATE STUDENTSHIP AWARD 
·         Two-year duration
·         $20,000 per year *(see RFA for explanation of funding)
·         At the time of application, candidates must be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program at the Master's or PhD level. Candidates may be Canadian citizens who propose to train at an Approved Institution (see definition in Part III of these Guidelines) located inside Canada or international applicants proposing to train at an Approved Institution located in Canada, who fulfill the criteria for a student visa.
·         This program invests in research training that offers promise for future work in the area of Parkinson's disease by supporting talented young scientists and providing students with an opportunity to enter into the area of Parkinson's research during the early stages of their training.  

Parkinson Society Canada is committed to advancing our research program to better serve Canadians with Parkinson's, to foster Canadian Parkinson's research leadership internationally, and to support efforts to ease the burden and find a cure.

Possibilités de financement :

Programme de projets pilotes 
·         Durée d'un an
·         Financement maximal de 45 000 dollars
·         Les subventions du programme de projets pilotes visent à stimuler des idées et des projets novateurs, très prometteurs, susceptibles de mener à d'importantes subventions auprès d'institutions subventionnaires majeures.

Programme de subventions pour nouveaux chercheurs

·         Durée de deux ans
·         45 000 dollars par an
·         Le programme est destiné aux jeunes professeurs des universités canadiennes qui ont entamé une carrière de chercheur scientifique au Canada depuis cinq ans ou moins. 
·         Ce programme permet aux nouveaux chercheurs d'accroître et de démontrer leur capacité d'entamer et de diriger des projets de recherche en santé indépendants.

BOURSES DE RECHERCHE FONDAMENTALE
·         Durée de deux ans
·         Entre 40 000 et 50 000 dollars par an
·         Les candidats doivent détenir un doctorat en médecine ou un Ph.D. (ou l'équivalent) et peuvent être des citoyens canadiens qui proposent une formation dans un établissement approuvé situé au Canada ou à l'étranger ou des demandeurs internationaux proposant une formation dans un établissement approuvé situé au Canada. 
·         Ce programme encourage de jeunes scientifiques prometteurs à se lancer dans le domaine du Parkinson et à investir dans une formation en recherche susceptible de mener à d'autres travaux dans le domaine du Parkinson.

BOURSES D'ÉTUDES-SUPÉRIEURES
·         Durée de deux ans
·         Financement maximal de 20 000 dollars par an (voir l'appel d'offres pour les details au sujet de l'octroie de la bourse)
·         Au moment où ils présentent leur demande, les candidats doivent être inscrits à un programme d'études de maîtrise ou de doctorat. on acceptera les demandes de citoyens canadiens qui proposent une formation dans un établissement approuvé situé au Canada et de demandeurs internationaux proposant une formation dans un établissement approuvé situé au Canada qui répondent aux critères des visas d'étudiant.
·         Ce programme encourage de jeunes scientifiques prometteurs à se lancer dans le domaine du Parkinson et à investir dans une formation en recherche susceptible de mener à d'autres travaux dans le domaine du Parkinson.

La Société Parkinson Canada (SPC) est déterminée à revitaliser son programme de recherche pour mieux répondre aux Canadiens atteints du Parkinson, mettre en valeur internationalement le potentiel de recherche du Canada dans le domaine du Parkinson et appuyer les travaux axés sur l'allégement du fardeau de la maladie et sur la recherche d'une cure.
