Dear Colleagues:

The Killam Seminar Speaker for this week (Tuesday, December 2nd) will be Dr. Barth Grant from the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Rutgers University.

Barth works on membrane trafficking with a focus on the endosomal network. His model system is C. elegans in which he combines genetics with terrific cell biology and biochemistry. Several years ago he performed an ingenious screen and isolated a series of receptor mediated endocytosis (RME) mutants. The proteins identified in this screen control multiple aspects of endocytic membrane trafficking and have provided new insights into this process.

The title of his talk is:

³Worming our way through the endosomal system: C. elegans as a model for membrane traffic²

It should be fun and I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Peter McPherson
