Hello Everyone,

 

As most of you had heard by now, the MUHC is experiencing some serious
issues with a Trojan Virus affecting most Microsoft Windows systems.
Internet connectivity to the MUHC has been interrupted to contain the
Trojan virus thus preventing it from spreading to systems outside the
MUHC network. All MUHC Windows based computers will be considered
"compromised" or affected by the Trojan virus until told otherwise. 

 

I was advised by McGill's IST security group to ensure that all
MNI/McGill Networked MS Windows based computers are running Symantec
Antivirus with up to date virus definitions. Symantec Antivirus is being
offered by McGill University to all staff and students for FREE. The
software can also be used for home based computers. If you do not have
Symantec Antivirus installed on your Windows system, you can download
the software through the following link:

You must have a valid McGill username to download the software. Your
McGill Username is based on your real name with the suffix @mcgill.ca or
@mail.mcgill.ca (e.g. first.last at mcgill.ca) and is used with your McGill
Password to log into many online services and IT systems at McGill. It
is the same as your McGill Email Address

McGill password is the same as your email password.
