Hello BIC users,


More fun on the agenda ... mostly for me.

Everything will be turned off at 16h30 today ... except the old RAID
hardware (Rikei and NIH) since their UPS should sustain them for 90
minutes - I'll take my chances! I should have 45 minutes autonomy for the
TP9300 and TP9400 so I may keep them alive. Grumio and Gertrude will be
turned off with the rest of the computers.

Emergency power will NOT be available for a 20 minute period, sometime
after midnight, could be more, could be less. A power transfer (or two
...) will follow to test the new breaker.

Computer equipment should be properly shutdown - for linux systems, some
display managers will allow this from the login window for unprivileged
users.

Then turn off and unplug any sensitive equipement not on UPS. If on UPS,
then just turn off and unplug the UPS. NO need to unplug equipment from
the UPS!

Hopefully everything will come back to life tomorrow - don't ask me when
but ASAP ... wish me luck!

Afin d'effectuer des travaux urgents sur le disjoncteur d'urgence
alimentant les pavillons McConnell, Webster et Molson il y aura une coupure
totale du courant électrique :

                       CE SOIR vendredi 17 mars à 23h59
                          Durée d'environ 20 minutes

NB L'alimentation d'urgence NE SERA PAS DISPONIBLE pendant ce temps (prises
rouge).

De plus, il y aura probablement un transfert de courant pour tester les
lignes, plus tard dans la nuit.

Veuillez prendre les mesures nécessaires à ce sujet en vue de protéger tout
équipement qui pourrait être affecté; fermez vos ordinateurs avant de
quitter. Nous regrettons les inconvénients inhérents à cette coupure.

any equipment that might be affected and turn off your computers before you
