Subject: Killam Lecture

Dear Colleagues:

This week's Killam seminar will be presented by Dr. Victor Faundez of the Department of Cell Biology at Emory University in Atlanta. Victor is an authority on endosomal trafficking in neurons. Following from work initiated as a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Reg Kelly, one of the fathers of neuronal cell biology, Victor has been examining the molecular cell biology of vesicle formation from endosomes. This process contributes to the generation of synaptic vesicles and to localization of transporters such as the vGlut and zinc transporters to synaptic vesicle membranes. He has also examined the role of the cytoskeleton in neuronal vesicle trafficking and the endocytosis of cell surface proteins such as cadherins.

His seminar, entitled "Mechanisms of neuronal endosome traffic" will be of broad interest to both the cell biology and neuroscience communities.
It will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4th in the de Grandpré Communication Ctr. on the 3rd level of the Brain Tumor Research Centre of the MNI. I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Peter McPherson
