Tuesday's Killam Speaker: Dr. Eric Holland
Title: Mouse Models of Brain Tumors: Expanding the Horizons.=20
4 PM, De Grandpre Communications Centre
Refreshments served at 3:45 PM

Dear Colleagues:

Dr. Eric Holland is a neurosurgeon who is Head of a Molecular Genetics
Laboratory at Sloan-Kettering Institute, where he is researching glioma
genesis and progression. Malignant gliomas are the most common type of
brain tumor in humans and very resistant to treatment. Dr. Holland has
developed mouse models of all the major gliomas, including the first
lifelike model of a glioblastoma multiforme. He is presently using these
mouse model systems to test drugs that have been shown in early
laboratory experiments to slow or arrest tumor growth in animal tissue.
His Killam Lecture Titled " Mouse Models of Brain Tumours:Expanding the
Horizon" will explore the use of mouse models to understand human brain
tumours.

Eric is an excellent speaker and wil be sure to provide an stimulating
seminar. I hope you will join us for his talk Tuesday at 4 PM.

Best regards,

Rolando Del Maestro
