Tuesday's Killam Speaker: Dr. Michael Ehlers
Title: Endosomes, Intracellular Sorting, and Plasticity Mechanisms at
Glutamatergic Synapes
4 PM, De Grandpre Communications Centre
Refreshments served at 3:45 PM
Dear Colleagues:
This week's Killam speaker will be Dr Michael Ehlers, Associate
Professor, Deptartments of Neurobiology, Duke University. Mike is one of
the leaders in the study of excitatory synaptic transmission. His
research focuses on understanding protein trafficking and turnover in
dendrites and its relationship to synapse formation and function.
There are three major lines of ongoing research in his lab. First, he is
studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate the
trafficking of ionotropic glutamate receptors to and from the synapse.
Second, he is studying the dynamics and regulation of the endocytic
machinery in dendrites and dendritic spines. Third, he is working to
determine how protein stability is controlled at the postsynaptic
membrane and, in particular, investigating the role of the
ubiquitin-proteasome system in postsynaptic remodeling.
As you can see, Mike is a prolific writer:

Mike is also a very engaging speaker. Please join us for what promises
to be a very exciting Killam talk by Dr Ehlers.
