There is actually an undocumented magic incantation of key-presses or something
to do this. However at the current moment it escapes me.. ;( I'm hoping someone

However the way I usually do this is to use mincpik on the Command line after
reading off the slice number from within register.  ie:

   mincpik -image_range 23.5 100.6 -slice 12 -coronal in.mnc slice.png
